Mandate
The Directorate of Extension Services, JNKVV, Jabalpur is typically mandated to:

Promote agricultural development through professional extension services by bridging research and farmers.

Strengthen and enhance professionalism in extension and coordinate with various extension centres (e.g., Krishi Vigyan Kendras) under the JNKVV.

Assess, refine and facilitate adoption of new technologies developed by the university or research systems, via demonstrations, training and advisory services.

Provide continuous training to extension functionaries, farmers, rural youth and farm-women to upgrade their capacities.

Serve as a nodal point for dissemination of information and services to the farming community and allied sectors, often via an Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC).
Objectives
Some of the common objectives of Directorate of Extension Services, JNKVV, Jabalpur are:

To provide new, dependable, profitable, socially acceptable and ecologically sustainable technologies and information to farmers and stakeholders, in a timely manner.

To gather feedback on adoption of technologies by farmers and pass this on to the research system, so that the research can be refined or re-oriented.

To devise and implement methods for improving the quality, relevance and effectiveness of extension work.

To organize trainings, demonstrations and on-farm trials so that latest technologies can be validated in farmers’ situations and widely adopted.

To facilitate linkages among the university’s research, extension services, state line departments (Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, etc.) and NGOs for integrated rural/agrarian development.
