The Department was established as the Department of Agricultural Botany in the year 1961; then changed to the Department of Agricultural Botany (Crop Physiology) in the year 1971; to Department of Plant Physiology in the year 2000-2001; to Department of Crop and Herbal Physiology in 2005-06 and then again Department of Plant Physiology in 2009. The Department offers a Master degree with various nomenclatures since 1961 at Jabalpur with a total intake capacity of 16. The doctorate degree program was started in the year 2009 at Jabalpur.
